World-renowned for its importance in Georgia music history and the history of rock-and-roll, Macon, Georgia is also home to historic and architectural treasures such as the Ocmulgee National Monument, Fort Hawkins, Terminal Station, Saint Joseph Catholic Church, and the Hay House.

Nearby Robins Air Force Base is the state’s largest employer.  The Museum of Aviation has over 90 aircraft on display.

Bibb County was the 54^th county in Georgia in 1822 and Macon was incorporated in 1823.  Many colleges and universities are located in the area, including Mercer University and Wesleyan College (the first college chartered to grant degrees to women).  Georgia’s second largest hospital, The Medical Center of Central Georgia, is located in Macon.

The biggest tourist attraction in downtown Macon is the annual Cherry Blossom Festival, but there are also many other smaller attractions, such as many museums, including the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame, theatre,  and a tremendous amount of history and the arts.
